Founded in 2012 by Vicky Velasco and current artistic director. Theatre Gato Negro has produced a fine performance from different Latino-American writers as well as Mid Summer Night’s Dreams by William Shakespeare. Gato Negro Theatre started playing a tribute to Roberto Gomez Bolaños (known as Chespirito) – 2012, Homage to Frida Khalo – 2013 collaborating with Casa Mexico on their independence day plays: “Salto atras” by Leoncio Martinez – 2013, “InmigranteSoy” a compilation of real-life history -2014, “Entrelazos” – various short plays from multiple Latin American authors.
“Quimeras” in 2018 at the Theatre Junction Grand. Recreating the realism magic of Latin-American writers, Stories from G. Garcia Marquez (Colombia), Henry Gonzalez (Venezuela), Ornelio Jorge Cardoso (Mexico), Mario Benedetti (Uruguay) as well as unknown stories.
